He chewed gum like it was water and he a man dying of thirst. Maybe he felt as though if he had a sweeter taste than destruction in his mouth, he wouldn't feel the cold taste of life at the back of his throat. Or maybe he felt as though it was keeping the constant knife of reality at his throat at bay.
Some whispered that it was the consequence of him being addicted to some drug when he was young, but he always shook his head when asked. Others said he was addicted to the gum, but all he did was throw his gum away and stop chewing it until those voices stopped. He picked the gum back up. He never was addicted, but he could never truly giv
The blue of the sky at midnight was his favorite color. It also appeared to match the color of his eyes. Many say that he merely appeared in our neighborhood one July night, in 1978.
The only thing is, well, he hasn't aged. At least according to all the old people here. It's been a hundred years since that night and he still looks 18. Somehow he also looks older than that.
My old neighbor, May June (yeah, funny name, I know), remembers the night he came here.
It was 11pm, and because of the heat, everyone in the neighborhood was out. May claims that the midnight sky turned a sunny blue for a few seconds. It dazzled and blinded everyon
“Do you wish to be a part of the Union, or not?” Del Te asked the Ambassador.
“We would like more time to think it over.” The Ambassador from Earth muttered, twitching. His eyes were glued onto his talk-pad; reading what the people of Earth wanted. Or,rather, what the powerful people of Earth wanted.
“No. We have given Earth more time than any other planet; do you want to be a part of the Union?” Del Te asked firmly. “If you do not give us an answer now, consider this offer revoked.”
“How long until you will come back?”
“We will not come back if we revoke it. Earth, if y
T was looking in a chest, presumably trying to find a clue as to where General Kratos might’ve gone. While they were doing that, I looked around the big, square room in the cranurn, which is, for those who don’t know what it is, is a bit like a big, one-room house in a tree. Most of them are ancient, built by an unknown species of alien. I noticed a door, well, it was like a door. It looked like a door, except it was built out of leaves and was made to blend into the wall.
The only possible thing that gave it away was that the floor did not match the door exactly. It was slightly off, as though
Leaves were whipping by me as I sprinted along the dark forest path. Branches were zipping past me, hitting me, cutting me, trying to grab me, throw me to the ground. I glanced back behind me, to see if they were still chasing me, and tripped over a root. I scramble up, knees throbbing, and I was pretty sure that as I had smashed my face into the ground, a rock had nicked me in the face, next to the corner of my mouth.
If I can just get to the swaying tree, I thought. If I can get rid of them. Suddenly, I noticed up ahead of me, that there was a small footpath going off to the right. I knew that even though they were quite perceptive, t
My mother used to call round snow, meaning the non-fluffy kind, astronaut snow. She said it was because it reminded her of the ice cream astronauts would eat – and also of the Dippin’ Dots that we could get at the museum. Or the ball game. Whichever you choose.
I always laughed when my mother said excitedly, “Look! It’s astronaut snow!” More than one time, I felt as though I was growing away from her – hearing her say that always made me feel like we were close once more. Perhaps we still are – it’s difficult to tell, what with has been going on. But now, if I ever see it – e
